New titleist Driver

Can’t wait to see the new titleist driver coming this May. Have the old TSi2 driver, 3 wood and hybrids and very keen to change these out. Hopefully will see some good improvements.

If the GTS is going straight in the bag for touring pros, I think they are definitely worth a look. I know some that is marketing push --- but going with these clubs straight into the bag, the pros must like what they are seeing.

I play TSR series right now, but I do like the look of the new GTS series --- I 'm definitely going to give them a run this Summer!

Taking lessons at a course, your pro can suggest if all or parts of your bag need replacement.

Likely not necessary to replace all of your bag at one time. You may need to adjust which hybrids and/irons need adjustment. I’d suggest putter last, so you can focus on your natural swing path without being distracted on which wedges or what driver loft will help you. One step at a time.

Hello all,

I’m about 2 years into the game. and I have a starter set of clubs. At what point did you upgrade your clubs? Should I get custom fitted even though I’m still new to golf?

My suggestion is that instead of investing in custom fitting clubs right away, you give yourself some time to learn about what you can and can't do with the clubs that you have first.

Along with this thought, I would also suggest that you consider taking some lessons from a teaching professional to help you see the right and wrong way to ensure that you grip the club properly, set up to the ball square to the target and target line, execute your swing with correct sequencing of body motion, weight transfer, and follow-through ---- and as a part of that activity, develop an effective pre-shot routing to help with repeatability.

After you have that an understanding and familiarity with the fundamentals, you will know what to look for in a good fitter because you will have some understanding of what you need, and you will be able to better appreciate what is involved in the fitting process.

While moderated, Titleist employees generally don’t respond. As an end user I’m not responding with other than conjecture. The urethane covered balls have been developed to very tight quality standards. Adding a color is not a simple exercise Based on marketing by Titleist for potential market size and degree of difficulty., they may extend the AVX line. Just not any time soon.

Book a series of lessons or do a get into golf course, one lesson will help two will confuse !! Enjoy and don’t be intimidated we all started somewhere. Most haven’t improved that much!

I’ve only really gotten into golf over the last year. I’ve played baseball most of my life and now that I’ve been out of competitive sports for a while I have loved getting back into something I can learn to play. For me it was all about playing with the right people who were learning with me so I didn’t feel so bad about being terrible!

I've been lucky enough to be part of the soring teams in a couple of LET events and at the Open at Walton Heath a couple of years ago. Being inside the ropes and seeing the swings up close was incredible. Tempo and rhythm were so smooth and the accuracy was off the charts. It's totally different from the 'smash it and wedge it' game the guys play. Fairways and greens all day long.
Short game skills were incredible as well.

I think it really shows that there's more than one way to get the ball in the hole and You can shoot some really low scores if you are deadly inside 80 yards. They got up and down from just off the green so many times as well.

And they were way more relaxed about talking to us as well.

Some 20 years ago, I signed my wife up for lessons from former LPGA player Jenny Park-Choi. In less than a year of these lessons, my wife's game improved by a lot. I was so impressed that I also took lessons from Jenny. Then I had a lightbulb moment-since the distances of the LPGA players were much closer to my own than a PGA player, wouldn't it make more sense to study the LPGA players on tv? So I did and noticed that a few players could overpower a course with their distance, most of the others had to play a smarter game that focused on precision. I believe watching the LPGA has helped my game.

So, I'm curious. Are there any male golfers on Team Titleist that watch the LPGA to improve their own game and if so, how has doing this improved your playing?

Yup, will tend to watch LPGA when it is on, sometimes over watching the PGA.

Sadly, it doesn’t seem as prevalent over this side of the pond, and we may get a highlights package at 11pm which doesn’t help….or the action is hidden away on a red button somewhere.

As has been mentioned the rhythm, tempo and ability to manage their way around a course is mega.

Just wish I could do it myself more often!

I do watch the LPGA tour often. It amazes me how well the hit hybrids, and long irons. So consistent, with great rhythm and deadly accuracy. All of that with swing speeds closer to ours.

I do as well, enjoy it and can relate to distances much more so than PGA. Have been to a few events and it is much less crowded and you can get closer to the action and really appreciate their skills.

I enjoy most golf but what I appreciate most about women’s golf is they’re way more relatable than pga tour pros. They play a smart game and don’t go too wayward easily replicable for a 5-15 handicap

I watch Women’s golf as much as possible. Ball striking and course management are amazing and truly is something I strive to improve in my own game. I try to attend an event when it comes to SoCal.

And honestly, it is just more fun.

I have watched a few of their majors and am always impressed by their consistency and tempo. One of my assistant partners has said that he will only watch the LPGA because it's a much better model of how amateurs should be golfing, and more realistic as far as distances for most amateurs.
